W. Lane Rogers is an acknowledged expert in Western American history. Rogers is in his fifteenth year as a widely-read Phoenix newspaper columnist. He has written hundreds of articles for publications worldwide and has authored numerous books in Western history. Titles in the crime genre include Ruthless Acts: The Utah Murders and Crimes & Misdeeds: Headlines from Arizona's Past.


Background Information

Early influences were Bernard Devoto, Wallace Stegner, Fawn Brodie, Dale Morgan, Ray Allen Billington, Howard Roberts Lamar, Frederick Jackson Turner and others who chronicled the Westward Movement.

Accomplishments

Rogers is the recepient of numerous awards including the C.L. Sonnichsen Award for Best Article in the Journal of Arizona History.
