These books pretty much detail my life as an orphan in the foster care system as a ward of the state from 6-19 years old. My mother was a paranoid schizophrenic and I didn't meet my biological father until I was about 18 years old. "Panning For Gold" details how I felt within that 13 year time frame bouncing between, 7-9 different foster homes, shelters, and group homes. This is a story about being labeled, stereotyped, misjudged, and misguided as I persevered and kept my faith in the most "high" up above! I'm not going to tell the story so, please check out this book, it may help you or someone you know endure just a little while longer for who knows what's at the end of the rainbow?! "Assault with a Verbal Weapon," is the follow-up memoir about my life as a freshly emancipated and young adult out of the system. This book deals with the issues that many of our young people are facing today and how a lack of tact and educational and fundamental communication is destroying so many different lives on a daily basis, somewhere, somehow. If you like to laugh, cry, joke, speak out, or you have a curious inclination as to how things have and will turn out if you are in or have been at a place you have no buisness being in your life, then this book is most definately for you!
