~ My sister Teresita's thoughts on her favorite slippers ...

You know what ?
Somebody fancied my slippers!!!

While  I was
inside the Perpetual Adoration Chapel
barefoot,
and spending time with The Lord,
a culprit exchanged
my favorite
trusty, leather slippers
with a pair of
dusty  faded ones !!!

Initially,
I was irked !
I was disappointed !!
I felt really , really bad…!!!

How could this happen to me???

To think that
earlier that day,
I felt really, really good
walking  from home to church!

You see,
I was cheerful I was wearing
my newly repaired slippers
which fitted the contours of my feet
so comfortably.

After serving in the 5:30PM mass,
I even decided to stay longer with Jesus
inside the Perpetual Adoration Chapel.

I meditated on the 15 mysteries
of the most holy rosary ,
then did some centering prayer.

Imagine my dismay
when in place of my familiar precious slippers,
a pair of old ones greeted me  !!!

Past the initial discomfiture ,
annoyance
and  disappointment ,
unbelievable amusement 
eventually snuggled in …

My sister and I
did have a good chat
over this incident.

Between peals of laughter
she consoled me saying this:

“Don’t feel so bad...
rather, at least be thankful.
Your slipper taker was considerate.
Those pair of  old slippers spared you
from walking home with unclad feet !”

If not for anything else,
I guess The Good Lord
must have  wanted me
to detach myself from material things.

After all...
Everything is temporary
Only God remains.

On the other hand,
maybe... just maybe,
the evil one must have been angered
because I have been spending so much time
in my Christ Jesus
with a heart full of gratitude and praise.

Well… whatever.
I reflected that
I am blessed
because what I lost
I have already enjoyed
for over a year.

I reflected that
I am truly  blessed
because the purloined slippers
gave rise  to so much mirth
each time the incident I re-ponder .

Just too bad though
it happened outside  a holy place...
but then
as I have realized :

ALL THINGS WILL PASS AWAY
ONLY GOD IS FOR ETERNITY.
