The Allure of Dominance & Submission
(or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love My Demons)

I used to think, like most people who find themselves fascinated by elements of bondage and discipline, that I was crazy. Why on earth should stories of pirate's taking women captive on the high seas be attractive to me? Why should I find novels like the Story of O the least bit interesting? Why should I find the relationship between Buffy and Spike so much more entertaining than Buffy's healthy relationship with that all-american college boy, Riley. As a responsible adult and feminist, I knew I was aberrant for enjoying the dark corners of the romance world far more than the healthy romps of romantic farces.
