This learning game that I created is for little active children with disorders that love to learn words while they play.

Teaching Pre-Schoolers with disorders can be quite different from older children.  It takes patience, determination, strategy, available materials, and most of all, fun.  (Originally, I created this game for preschoolers but it can also be for other ages using technical words.  Or even some may want to switch the game to numbers, math flashcards, pictures of objects/animals, the alphabet, and more.)

SPEAKING OF FUN!!!
Try one of my creative learning games as follows:

TRY MY GAME: RUN FOR THE WORDS

The object in this materials development will teach and improve in the following learning categories:
  1. Listening
  2. Recall
  3. Gross Motor Skills
  4. Socialization
  5. Reading
  6. Following Instructions
  7. Cooperation
  8. Sharing
  9. Sense of Accomplishment and Mastery
  10. Exercise

Materials Needed: Paper and pencil, or chalk and blackboard, or crayons, word list, index cards or cards created on your computer that can also be laminated, secured room with table or couch by a wall to place cards on for running, a whistle or music, and most of all, children.  Please remember to keep a list for yourself to call out before placing the cards.

  INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE GAME:

  1. Read out loud the words on the cards to the children until they feel secure to say them back without stumbling over them. Now, the words are locked into in their minds.
  2. Place selected cards on a table or couch near a wall.
  3. Line the children up into two sections for the run.
  4. Let the children know that you are going to start the relay race with a whistle or music.
  5. Also, let the children know that when they see the word that was called out, they should pick it up quickly before the other child gets it. The child should say the word and bring the card back to you.
  6. When they come back with the card, they should get behind the next children to run for the next words.
  7. Call out your first word and play the music or whistle for starting.
  8. Watch and collect the cards as the children bring them back.
  9. Repeat the cycle.
Parent/Teacher results:  After playing the game, the children will be ready to take a nap.
