How my story of Talion was created and written. Discovering the title was an experience and left me thrilled.

One day while eating lunch I flipped on the TV. A program about twins was showing. My writer's mindset locked onto the concept of identical women in a mystery. The imagination in my thinking soared with many possibilities and various scenarios. All were rejected except one. The idea of twins, one good and one bad grabbed me and would not let go.

After calculating, I settled on the bad one getting away with murder. I had to go back in time to accomplish the goal and ended in the fifteenth century. I loved writing the story. There was a feel of freedom because of so few laws and no forensics. What laws available were made and administered by one man, a knight. He owned the land including the local village and was the only voice of authority. His word was law and indisputable.

The story flowed with a life of it's own. I was merely the vehicle recording it. At least that is what I felt as my pen sped on the paper trying to keep up with the events unfolding in my head. The difficult part was creating a title. Many came into my brain and none were appropriate, did not fit. When the story was finished I still had no title and was near panic. The story was special and the title had to also be special. Then one day I flipped open my dictionary and a word seemed to jump from the page directly at me. It was perfect and I felt like dancing with joy. The word was "Talion", which means punishment that exacts a penalty just like the crime; an eye for an eye. That was my story.
