Serial killers habitually hang out at camp sites, national forests, and parks.

I'm getting right to the point on this article. Why? There is a real and present danger to everyone out there that visits national parks, camp sites, and many of our recreational parks. It's a threat to everyone, but especially to lone females. What's the threat? Serial killers!

Serial killers tend to pick victims from these sites. Why? Desolation. These areas are not heavily populated. They are sites that are surrounded by trees and heavy brush. In most of these locations if someone screams, it will go unnoticed.

I've been speaking about this phenomenon for quite a long time. As we speak, a man name Gary Hilton has been charged by the police for the death of Meredith Emerson. He has apparently confessed to killing Ms. Emerson. She was apparently a lone hiker. If you check the internet, there have been many females missing from wooded areas, especially in the last 20 years.

I've said for years that the federal government should form a special police force or search organization to do nothing but one job... search national forests, state parks, and wooded areas next to interstate highways and so forth for bodies. I believe that many missing person reports would suddenly clear up after a few years. I really believe that many victims of foul play are buried in remote and wooded areas.

I can't begin to tell you how many serial killers have dumped bodies in desolate areas. It's the logical choice! I'm not trying to alarm females, well yes I am. I wish to alarm all females as well as all males to watch yourself very carefully around desolate areas.

Here are a few tips:

1) If you go camping, hiking, etc, do it with at least one friend, preferably two.

2) Make sure you have a fully charged cell phone that you "know" will dialed out of most areas of your hike or stay.

3) Tell family and/or friends where you headed. If hiking through a national or state park, alert the ranger that you are visiting and for how long.

4) Be aware of your surrounding. When I stayed  and hiked in the woods I would constantly look around for people, sounds, and any suspicious oddities.

5) Get out of the woods at least one hour before dark. Don't wait until dark to exit.

6) Have a weapon in your hands ready to defend yourself. A knife, sharp stick, large stone, or anything to defend yourself (view my other articles concerning self-defense).

Folks, we live in dangerous times. There are killers out there that are willing to serve life in prison just to rape and kill you!

Good tips Robert. How sad the women are banished from the world of night, and nature, by the fear of attack by such evil people. In Canada, the women have a candlelight march each summer to "Take back the night." All the best, Malcolm Watts
