Is preliminary data and scientific results showing police crime and arrests are a real threat and growing?

Many of you have already seen my introduction of Mr. Philip Stinson on my main page. I received many emails and messages saying to me that this man's credentials are impeccable. If you wish to see his credentials go to the bottom of my bio page. In a nut shell, he's an attorney and criminologist.

One of his primary investigations is the correlation between police officers arrests, the categories of their crimes, and the relationship of other factors such as their ages, time on the job, and other information.

I am not going to attempt to explain in detail Mr. Stinson's initial findings, but I will give those of you his preliminary results in a simple statement. Please keep in mind that these are preliminary results, not the final results. Mr. Stinson has indicated to me that he has another 12-24 months of data collecting before he is finished with his investigations and researches.

He has sent me a tremendous amount of data, technical information, bar graphs, and other pertinent information that impressed even an ex police officer accustomed to facts and figures. I wish I could share all that he sent me now but I have decided to delay releasing all of the information. Over the next few days, weeks and months, I'll slowly submit some of his technical drawings, bar graphs, and data.

Having said that let me give you a sampling of his research.

He has compiled data on 695 police officers arrested between January 1, 2005 and June 30, 2006, an approximate 18 month time period. He then catalogued and coded the results, meaning that each police officer's unique crime, age, and years on the force is broken down to display on a bar graph. The police officers represented a total of 449 agencies, primarily state, sheriff, county police, municipal police, special police, and tribal police agencies. In other words, sworn police officers!

Now, giving you his total preliminary results would take weeks to explain, and in subsequent articles I will give you his results. But let's start with the abstract results, build on that, and over the weeks I'll give you his full preliminary investigation. Believe me, I'm sitting on too much to release in one article. I can't wait for his full and complete analysis.

This is Mr. Stinson's preliminary opinion about the data he's collected over 18 months, pending his final scientific data report. Please note, he is only concern with data, not opinions!

"Preliminary content analysis and findings indicates that the prevalence of police officers arrested is significant, as is the range and type of offenses committed by those officers".

What does this means?
The arrest of police officers from a purely scientific basis is real. His preliminary results are a clue and a window to a real and tangible problem. One of the reasons I decided to write about these preliminary findings is to show all my readers that even from a purely academic standpoint, objectively performed, one will still see the problems with bad cops as shown by their many arrest. Oh, by the way, he is a former police officer as well.

I will continue in the future to get the educated opinions of many more professionals, educators, and experts to start a dialogue and seek real remedies to the problem of at least reducing police crimes!

I wish to thank Mr. Stinson on behalf of my many readers in helping us to begin to solve this unique dilemma in our country!

Excellent article Robert. Mr. Stinson resume is truly impressive. I checked him out and he's for real. I soo happy that your mantra and callings are finally being shown as a truth. Anyone with common sense should know that police officers are people also and subject to commit crimes. Please keep on writing and sharing your disgust with bad cops!
