Many of you all may remember the case 14 years ago in New Orleans (why is it always New Orleans cops) when a female New Orleans Police Officer named Antoinette Franks was found guilty of killing another police officer and at least two others during a robbery at a restaurant. This was a rare event, a cop killing a cop!
Well, a New Orleans judge has ordered something that has not happened in 60 years in Louisiana... he signed a date of execution for the former officer. The victim's family members welcomed the news but her attorney has promised more appeals. The date was set for July 15, 2008.
This made big news in Louisiana in 1995, as well as across the country. Many sources reported that she was emotionally unstable during her psycological exam while becoming a police officer! ( then why was she approved?).
By the way, another alleged shooter with the officer, a supposedly ex-boyfriend named Roger Lacaze, is also awaiting a date of execution.
The couple was accused of attempting to rob the restaurant when they shot and killed the police officer and two employees. Reports are that she worked some shifts with the murdered officer.
2) The New Orleans police Department was SO desperate for new recruits that they needed to take her.
Sadly because of these two factors one police officer(with two children) and two innocent people are dead. In light of this situation I hope the N.O.P.D. has ammended their hiring criteria.
