Edward Rogoff's Bankable Business Plans and its textbook version were featured in the March 2008 Issue of the Global Entrepreneur Monitor Newsletter.

Given the size of the GEM community, there is understandably a very wide range of entrepreneurship-related interests among team members, most of whom combine research and teaching in their daily working lives. The teaching element (including course development activities) requires staff to be aware, not only of the current literature in peer-reviewed journals, but also of textbooks that provide a useful resource to students.

In April of last year, we reported the publication of "Entrepreneurship" by Bill Bygrave and Andrew Zacharakis of GEM USA. Now we are able to report the recent publication of two more books from within the U.S. team. This time the author is Edward Rogoff of Baruch College, New York: as Marcia has reported, GEM USA is now a combined Babson and Baruch team.

Both books are concerned with business plans, with one being specifically aimed at entrepreneurial ventures, and both come with an endorsement of Jeff Bezos, CEO at Amazon.com...The second book is the second edition of what is presumably already a success and is simply entitled, "Bankable Business Plans."

According to one reviewer, this book "covers everything from comprehensive and thorough strategic, financial, and operational analysis to how to present your plan and yourself. Anyone writing a business plan should consult this book...(which) contains detailed information on Risk Management Association (RMA) data and clear explanations of the guidelines that banks, venture capital firms, and the Small Business Administration (SBA) use to grant loans and other financial support to businesses, the resource equips small business owners with a wealth of knowledge on lending procedures."

Hundreds of useful ideas for developing , operating, marketing, and building a profitable business are included as are copious examples and resources for further study.

"By demonstrating how to make each business plan uniquely suited to a particular endeavor- such as home-based businesses, sole proprietorships, and franchise operations- this comprehensive handbook ensures that anyone can embark on a new business venture with confidence."

-Mick Hancock, GEM
