Based off of my novel Fatal Kidnapping.

A fan recently wrote to me and told me about her true experience of almost being kidnapped.  She wants the world to know, that it can happen to anyone.   I thought I should share this unbelievable story with you, her pain and agony.  I will call her Jane.

Like Katie Stone, in my novel, Jane always felt that someone was watching her.  Not since she was a child, but as an adult.  She was in fear, just like Katie.  Not knowing what to do, Jane felt alone - with no one to turn to.

Jane was home alone one night.  Her husband was out of town on business.  She heard many sounds outside of her door.  She was so frightened, that she was unable to move.  Her fear kept her motionless.

Her abductor made his way into her house.  Wearing a ski mask, Jane was taken from the warm and cozy feeling of her home.  She kicked and screamed, begged and pleaded.  To no avail, the abductor would not let her go.

Jane wanted to do more, but she could not fight him.  He was too strong.  He was going to take her from her home and there was nothing that she could  do to stop him.

Once outside of her home, he drug her toward his van.  Jane's only hope of survival was to inform someone that she was in trouble.  She yelled "Help!" at the top of her lungs.  Over and over.  He threatened her with her life, but Jane knew she would be in even more trouble if she went with him.   (Jane was right, and did the right thing).

She continously screamed.  Finally, her neighbor ran outside and helped her.  The abductor left.  Jane did not know who the abductor was, but a detective told Jane that a rapist and killer was on the loose in their neighborhood.  Had Jane met him?  She believed she did.

A few weeks later, a man driving the same car that Jane was being led toward was convicted of raping four women in her hometown.  Jane had saved herself.  She beat him!

This story that Jane has shared with me brought tears to my eyes.  I am happy that she was able to help herself.  I am proud of Jane.  All women and children should be aware that screaming really can help if someone is trying to abduct you.

Jane is still tormented daily.  She always fears that it could happen again.  She is seeking therapy, but she says she will never feel the same.  She will always be in fear as long as her abductor is alive.

Jane wanted me to leave you with one final note -

If someone grabs you, then you fight and scream.  If they take you, chances are you will be killed.
