One day, a Japanese office worker Tomoe was saved by a boat when it was flooded. She got such great opportunities to learn things because the society where she brought up did not give much opportunities for girls to learn. She was taken to London first and then, Poland, Singapore and Hong-Kong. In each country, she learn history or important things, which would be helpful for her future life. When she came back to her country, Japan, she became a school teacher. However, she was suffered from oppression by the education system. But she tries to oppose it and she was ....
The author had lots of experience in London, Poland, Singapore and Hong-Kong. She learnt English and worked in a hospital as a volunteer and in a sandwich bar where mostly the people in labour class worked. However, she met great people there and learnt many things.
She tried to tell her students about what she saw in each country. It was really important for her and them, because she saw real history in Poland and Singapore. But in schools, they are not allowed teachers to teach it. So Tomoe was struggled with even an English textbook which was not appropriate for junoir high school students.
The story is fiction but based on the author's life. She just wants to be honest and sincere to such pure hearts.
