Love is probably the most misused word and the most misunderstood subject in the world, and yet, it is the most important aspect of life. After years of search, I finally have started to both understand and experience real love. What I have learned, I want to share.

To love God and to love others is the fulfillment of the law. But, real love is a very illusive thing.   The world has many definitions for it, but they are all wrong.  The only source of love is God.  The kind of love that we are meant to manifest is spiritual, not carnal.  Love, is a fruit of the Spirit of God and can't be produced by the flesh.  It is selfless, sacrificial and service oriented and was demonstrated by Jesus.  So, how does this apply to relationships?  Well, here is what I have discovered:  Love is a choice and an action, not an emotion.  The emotion occurs as a result of the action. We can choose to love anyone.  However, we choose to love a person because of how he/she makes us feel when we are with him/her.  Consequently, we should always consider the other person's life more important than ours and seek to always lift them up.  This builds love.  We should never, never, never criticize, judge or condemn the other person, because that destroys love.  This may sound simple, and it is.  It works!  In the Bible, in addition to loving God, we are told to love our neighbor and to love our enemies.  So, how can we love someone that we don't even like?  Well, we can serve them selflessly and sacrificially, and seek ways to lift them up.  When we do that, we are being obedient to the commandment of Jesus and we will find that He begins to change our heart about that person.  And, if we continue, we will eventually find that we love that person.  Next to becoming a Christian, this is the most important aspect of life that I have ever learned.  Practice this and you will be amazed.
