Is the Internet Killing Cookbooks? Interview with writers and chefs Kirk Leins and Erika Kerekes.
Last month, The Cook's Library on Third Street reportedly closed its doors after nearly 20 years of top-notch service to LA's culinary community. But was this independent bookstore simply the latest casualty of a tough economy, or is it really that a better recipe for cooking success now exists on the Internet?
After all, with so many great blogs and cooking sites online that offer free recipes on just about everything as well as interactive videos that demonstrate how to cook your favorite dishes step by step, perhaps learning to cook from a book is simply less appealing to today's would-be chefs than it was in the past.
With this mind, I met up with a couple of LA cooking experts, Kirk Leins and Erika Kerekes, to hear their thoughts on this issue.
