Dead On Writing by Robert W. Walker. A review.
Mr. Walker’s passion for writing comes through in his book’s dead on advice. With enthusiasm and precision, he delivers those goods he deems himself able to and nothing more. I had to stop reading in my tracks more than once because his words struck my brain. Of course, my mind shouted. Aha! And more than once, oh, well, duh, Amber! “…Most of the lessons, while teachable and learnable must come at a time when you, the student or candidate, are READY.”
I am. Real writing is in the rewriting, after all, and Mr. Walker speaks to the author facing the finished draft, scratching her head, wondering how to see the forest for all the trees reamed off her printer.
Mr. Walker helped me shine the light onto my prose and dissect its components so that I can now arrange the enigma within them and reveal my picture as I truly intended to my reader. Bright and vivid. A snapshot they, I hope, will keep in their mental scrapbook with a checkmark next to it, buy this. For the first time in seven manuscripts, I can honestly nail down what sentences are passive, which are active and why they do or do not work as such....
