Saint Valentine,

may have been Roman, but the spirit of romance on

Valentine’s Day

is celebrated around the world.

Two Lovers.

A Wedding took place in a church long ago,

the groom was resplendent, the bride was aglow.

They had known each other since ringlets and curls,

she was the pick of the bunch ; amongst all other girls.

He tried many ways to impress her; no doubt,

when he succeeded, inside he would shout.

There's pleasure and pain in courtship and love,

but if the god Eros smiles down from above,

both hearts will entwine and love will ensue,

with trust, dedication; both must be true .

Time just moves on, and lovers do too,

in the mid nineteen fifties, it was me ; it was you.

I tried to impress you in so many ways,

I loved you, I left you -  and counted the days

we took to resolve the situation : no doubt.

Perhaps that's what true love is really about.

There's pleasure and pain in courtship and love,

but when the god Eros smiles down from above,

both hearts will entwine and love will ensue,

with trust, dedication; both must be true .

The years are unfolding toward the next century

unknown the adventures that still are to be.

As lovers have continued through all of the ages

we too ; will have our story, in history's pages.

I love you still, of that there's : no doubt,

that's what true love is really about.

Many Years

of

wedded bliss

are

sealed of course

lingering

kiss.

Charmed.

He captured her attention.

It was just a glance.

Perhaps she would have missed him,

but - as if just by chance.

His soft blue eyes washed over her,

 beauty so rare,

they froze in just a moment,

it was almost a stare.

Her cheeks tinged; to pale pink,

as he drank in her grace.

She spread a feathered fan

to conceal her face.

His ardour was heightened

by her figure sublime.

Then both were encapsulated

in that fragment of time.

This moment quick passed,

 as passioned times will,

but a fast beating heart

confirmed her the thrill.

perhaps lots of bling,

whatever you desire

to have your heart sing.

      Verona,

      the Italian city where Shakespeare's play lovers Romeo and Juliet lived, receives about 1,000 letters every year sent to Juliet on Valentine's Day.

      The red rose was the favorite flower of Venus, the Roman goddess of love.Flowers are very significant for Valentine's Day in Taiwan.

      The number of roses given shows the man's intentions. One rose means “my only love,”

      99 roses is “forever,” one hundred and eight roses means “marry me.”

      Denmark's custom is for the male to send a Valentine letter called gaekkebrev, or

      “joking letter” to his unbeknownst sweetheart. Instead of a signature, he makes one dot for each letter of his name.

      In years gone by British women would circle a church 12 times, while chanting a rhyme to make their future beloved appear in a dream.
