The Case Against Erasmus "Edward" Stribbling Trout Shue - Who Testified She was Murdered
The death of a woman in Greenbriar County, West Virginia is the only known case where the "word of a ghost" was used to convict a man of murder. This concerns the death of Elva Zona Heaster Shue who had married Erasmus Stribbling Trout Shue sometime between October1896 and January 23, 1897. On that 23rd day of January, Zona Shue's body was found at the bottom of a set of stairs in the Shue home by Andy Jones, an 11-year-old boy who sometimes did chores for Zona and who had supposedly been sent to see if his wife needed anything from the store by her husband, Edward.
