I am just writing about the stagnation I see in the area creativity.

Hey I do not mean to bash on the creative community too much, but as a fan of fantasy and science fiction I am getting tired of seeing the same charactors and themes repeated over and over. For example I went and saw a movie today and their was an advertisement for the movie Tron and for those of you who are too young to remember there was a movie called Tron in the early 80's. I have seen the same thing with Transformers and GI Joe movies that came out last summer. They were just playing off of some cartoons from the 80's as well. The success of the Twilight series has led to vampire love stories all over the place. I walk around bookstores and I see so many stories that copy video games or wizards, dragons etc etc... Hey I understand that there is a need to pay the bills, but as creative people I feel like that we need to tap into our own imaginations and experiences and create stories that are unique to us as individuals. We need to stretch ourselves and study history, philosophy and try to gain an understanding on people so we can enrich our charactors and stories. I think we need to take some risks once and awhile and fine maybe there will be stories that a lot of people may not like but imagine if you wrote one story that was unique and grabbed peoples imaginations and influenced the culture in your own unique way. That would be an experience that would wipe away a lifetime of rejection and give you something to look back on with satisfaction instead of the gnawing feeling of what if I tried something different.
