Under Grace means that if we believe that Jesus died on the cross in our place to pay for our sin-debt to God; and on the third day rose from the grave; we have changed our direction in life and have asked Jesus to be our Lord and Savior, - then we become the recipient of blessings earned by Jesus when He died on the cross.
The free unmerited, undeserved blessings are the forgiveness of our sins, past, present and future; peace; good health and healing if we are sick, and daily provisions, - food and other necessities for life on earth.
It is in the bank!
All of these blessings are in the bank so to speak. What we need to do is withdraw it when ever we need any of the blessings. It is that simple but many find it difficult to believe. The common belief is that we have to do something!
The truth is that Jesus has earned all the mentioned blessings for us. We cannot add to what He accom-plished 2000 years ago.
What happens is, (and this happened to me), I became so grateful that I wanted to do good things in Jesus name. We will want to tithe to our church, donate what we can to deserving organizations, be more tolerant when driving in crazy traffic, etc.
The Law
The ten commandments, (the demand side), is however very important in that it serves as a guide for our behavior. But no one can really comply with all the ten demands and be saved.
If we have a lustful thought, we have committed adultery; if we utter angry words to a neighbor or another person, we have committed murder. So all of us are adulterers and thieves at one time or another. As a result we discover that we have to turn to Jesus to save us, to be our Savior.
This new found knowledge that - I can simply go under the continuing flow of blessings from God for all my needs and solutions to problems has made my life more at ease; and more restful.
Note also that my fellowship or good relationship with God is never broken regardless whether I fall in to sin. My coverage continuous 24/7.
Young and healthy people and those who have not experienced heart wrenching physical, emotional or relationship problems, usually do not pay attention to this kind of teaching.
Very often, it is only when a person gets into a really bad situation and finds himself or herself in a place between the deep blue sea and a hard place that he/she does not have anywhere to look to for help but UP! That is the instance when they start seeking God and hopefully find that the free unmerited Grace from God is available for the asking.
Many, many people are in this situation but are not aware of this free Grace. I was one of them for decades. Thank You Jesus I found Your Grace, Amen.
