Book Clubs and Discussion Groups usually begin after a summer break and members look for new books and authors. Of course, everyone wants to read those on the Best Seller lists. However, I’ve found some of my favorite authors by word of mouth. Readers find a great book and share it with friends and neighbors.
Using Book Discussion Guides provide a framework. If you’re not in a Book Club and want to begin one of your own, then these guides are perfect tools. The questions stimulate conversation. Even if you’re already in a well established discussion group, guides for new author’s books can help you understand their work better.
Look for Book Discussion Guides. Some books, including fiction and nonfiction works, include a set of questions in the appendix. Other books don’t include a question section, but by looking on the internet you can find guides at websites and blogs. Many are free or very inexpensive. Sites like
can be found for lesser known authors. A simple Google search will provide you with individual author sites as well as websites with large lists of Discussion Guides available to the public.
