I've spent the last two days reading Angels On High, and it's sequel, Angels On High: The Challenge, and I'm still smiling. These are the only two books I've found by Mr. Deecki Sr., and if they're his first two works, he's off to a great start!

If you're of Christian faith, and the path has gotten rugged, uncomfortable, confusing, and your faith is feeling whipped, this is a great read to put things into perspective. It's also an excellent resource serving as a reminder that whatever it is we're going through, we're not the only ones in difficult circumstances, nor are we ever alone during those circumstances, or any other time during our lives.

During my reading of the two novels, I've sat at the fireside and listened to a very smart man reminisce, struck out into a wild snow storm to assist with a rescue, visited with sick little ones wearing smiling faces in the childrens ward, even when they were facing death. I encountered angels of the dark and dreadful sort, and angels of the Light and bright sort. I watched as they maneuvered and manipulated people in a town, clueless to their involvement. I observed while those people made their choices to to be led down a path of emotional healing and those who chose sorrow and anger.

Although the situations and characters are fictional, I've seen these challenges played out in real lives. The content can be applied to many of us, because many of us have been in nearly identical situations, or know others who have. Mr. Deecki did a wonderful job of blending the faith and determination of the faithful, as well as the help they received to make it through the obstacles they faced. He also began and ended each chapter with related scriptures.

Beyond the major uplifting spiritual influences in the story, it isn't lacking in page-flipping adventure. Dress warm and pack snow-shoes, you're going to need them. That tent on the mountain top got very cold during the blizzard, but the angel who showed up to share a coffee was quite impressive! Also, if the town in the stories is based on a real one, I'd love to visit it!

The author, Mr. Walter G. Deecki Sr., is retired United States Air Force (1972 through 1992), and I'd like to extend my thanks to him for making the effort to bring us this wonderful literary work, as well as sincere appreciation for his service time. Great job, Mr. Deecki. I hope we'll be seeing more of your work on the literary front!
