well I can dream, can’t I?
If you have stumbled on this article in the hope of finding something to distract you, and you are, or consider yourself, a liberal in life and in political beliefs, you probably should look further for another distraction.
This article is about me as an individual, and my wants and beliefs as an independent thinker. Someone who is dedicated to an archaic belief that our forefathers intended for each of us to be, as Christians, and strongly religious people of any faith believing in a single God, righteous people with a deep regard for God, family, country and our fellow man. Or even Agnostics and Atheists with the same value base.
Now Then:
Here is what I believe, in no particular order of importance, and without regard to another’s beliefs or with any desire whatsoever to try to persuade you or anyone else to change over to what I believe.
What I am saying here is what, if I had the power to do, I would. Without a care for you or your own personal interests. You got to love it! The old liberal media. Wk. #5
It is wonderfully reported on the liberal media how the Republicans don’t want women to have contraceptives. In spite of the framing of the issue stating that Republican candidates for President are not running on that issue, and in spite of the fact that the press makes a point out of claiming that someone like Rick Santorum has argued that Catholic sponsored hospitals, (he is a Catholic after all) are breaking no laws by adhering to their faith and not providing contraceptives, which would thereby violate the sanctity of the Church. The old mainstream Liberal media and the extreme left wing of the Democratic party are trying their darndest to infer that the Church has to bow to the state on this issue. Another, 'attack the Constitution through a back door' strategum, and try to make the public think this is a red hot Republican issue.
The only reason I can see it being a Republican issue is if the administration now in power is successful in making the public believe that the Catholic church should be forced to hand out free contraceptives and include therein the matter of abortions being the right of every woman, even at a Catholic church. Don’t see that happening any time soon.
Abortions and contraceptives are already free in any number of government supported institutions, despite how it makes some people feel disgusted. If a woman wants an abortion that’s fine as long as I don’t have to pay for it and as long as you don’t want my Church to pay for it. And also if you can live with the fact that the good Lord may not be thrilled with your choice (as you put it.)
My late wife had seven children, and one miscarriage, which she cried over because she saw it as a blessing to have the privelege of a birth of a child. Our girls may feel differently, (I haven’t asked) but certainly not their mother.
You and your mother might feel differently, but don’t tell me the state has any right to demand me to see things their way on this issue. They Don’t.
