There are literally thousands of herbal plants that are grown all over the world. And it is easy to start a herbal plant garden on a kitchen windowsills or in a small garden.

First, I would like to say that I've experienced great success growing a few of the herbs listed in the article. Give it a try, you might like growing fresh herbs and enjoying them on a daily basis.

Cooking Herbs
Here are a few very tasty herbal selections to regard for growing in a home garden to spice up food or add instant flavor.

Basil - the basil plant has a very sweet flavor that is favored in soups, salads, pasta and meat dishes.

Ginger - `Fresh ginger is a very spicy herb that is used in cakes, pies, and tea preparations.

Oregano - This herb has a very strong flavor and is used in all types of food
preparations although pregnant women are warned not to consume the herb.

Rosemary - The very fragrant leaves are used to season and garnish foods.

Thyme - Thyme is used to add flavor to stock and stuffings. Those women who are
pregnant are warned to not consume this very strong aromatic herb.

Beauty/Body Care Herbs
It is certainly true that a large variety of herbs are used in beauty and body care preparations today. They are used in creams, lotions, oils, shampoos, conditioners. Herbs are also used to treat skin conditions. Why? Herbs are thought to remove the toxins by increasing circulation and opening skin pores.

Lavender - Lavender is thought to deliver great benefits. Lavender oil is commonly used in many beauty preparations, perfumes, soaps, and even bathing products. In fact, a bath filled with the essence of lavender is thought to ease tired muscles in the body.

Chamomile - Chamomile tea that is used to rinse brown hair creates natural golden highlights.

Sage - An infusion of sage tea that is poured through dull black hair adds nutrients and makes hair glow with a natural healthy dark highlights.


Medicinal Herbs
Medicinal herbs are used to treat many health conditions. These type of natural herbs were used to treat health problems before modern day medicine was widely available. Here are popular picks.

Chamomile -Chamomile is a wildly popular herb used to treat several types of ailments. Medicinal health benefits include relieving upset stomach problems, digestion problems, cramping in the stomach. Drink a hot cup of hot chamomile tea
to treat these problems.

Sage - Sage is a very aromatic plant used in a number of health preparations. It is thought that an infusion made with safe leaves relieves heavy sweating. Sage is also packed with healthy antioxidants that are good for treating nervous conditions.

Thyme - Thyme is used for a large number of health problems. The plant is used to treat arthritis, fungal infections, and bronchitis. There is one precaution: Pregnant women should not use thyme. It might irritate skin.
