This is the last known work of Anton Pesticide's deranged brother Earwig. found among his computer files shortly after his mysterious disappearance.

ABSTRACT: Nowadays, the burgeoning global population has created a demand for flesh-eating nanites that can be released into overcrowded slums, thereby freeing up increasingly scarce natural resources for the more productive members of our species. In order to accomplish this objective without ongoing human intervention, it is essential that these nanites be self-replicating and robust against changes in the environment. The first such nanites were developed by Kim et al. [1], but were fully functional only within a narrow range of temperatures. Dung and Bung [2] implemented a number of improvements to their design, but were unable to solve the troublesome problem of susceptibility to moisture. In this paper, we propose a novel self-replicating nanite fueled by human flesh and capable of functioning under the most adverse environmental conditions. The nanites’ appetite for human flesh has been successfully simulated over a wide range of temperatures and humidities, and is currently being tested experimentally. As a matter of fact, something is eating my leg. There seems to be a weakness in our containment system, and this will have to be addressed in future research, if there is any.
