When Dennis Hopper was living on a farm at age 12, he experimented with putting his nose up to a tractor exhaust pipe after taking off the filter. Then he would lie down in the field and trip out on the clouds. Liking the effects so much he did it every day.
One day he ODed on it. The grill and lights of the tractor became a monster attacking him. Hopper fought back with his baseball bat smashing the lights until his grandfather pulled him away.
At 17, Hopper auditioned for a part as an epileptic in the TV show 'Medic' by falling to the floor and foaming at the mouth in the casting director's office. The director picked up the phone to call an ambulance until Hopper jumped up with a grin. The director sent the other waiting actors away and hired Hopper.
Back on the farm, Hopper watched the televised show with his grandparents. When the scene came with Hopper's epileptic seizure, his grandmother said, "You look like that time when you attacked our tractor."
The Medic episode was the first to explain the truth about epilepsy.
