Sweetwater's character Panama Jack is mirrored in country outlaw star Jamey Johnson. Freelance distiller Panama Jack heals a homesteader's wife with tick fever with his "earth-bourbon" whiskey. Miranda Lambert is also mirrored, who Sweetwater would like to see be cast as Jilly, Panama Jack's wife who plays dulcimer while Panama tans silver fox fur.
