Every wonderful book deserves an audience. But not every great book gets the attention that it merits. In Texas, B. Alan Bourgeois has been doing something about that. He told me that first he founded the Texas Association of Authors (TAA), and then he started a book festival in October 2011. It is not to be confused with the Texas Book Festival, which is held in October, and features authors from all over. For the 2013 Texas Spring Book Festival, he organized the Texas Association of Authors event and brought in some Texas authors who are trying to get on reader's radar. When I visited the event on April 20 held at the Hickory Street Cafe at 800 Congress Avenue; I found various offerings and had a great conversation with Bourgeois and several featured authors and book-themed vendors.
