A very unusual meeting

It was still dark. Dawn was at least an hour away if not more. I was alone on the road, on foot. This was the time when I got most of the ideas I was to use for my fiction. But that morning I got something I had never expected. She was young, she was slim or should I use the word slender? She looked at me with such melancholy eyes that even an unsocial man like me wanted to know her better. I went closer to her. She still sat looking so downcast. I wondered what the reason could be. I was always a little careful with females; they could sometimes snap at you. When I was next to her, she just lifted up her eyes and looked at me complainingly. I didn’t know how to approach her but then decided I’d touch her and stroke her a bit. She seemed to want that from me. It made her feel good. I felt scared, yet slowly and shakily I did manage to put my hand on her head. She liked that very much and her eyes gave out a look of gratitude. I managed to get closer to her body. I could feel her breathing heavily. Was she getting excited by my coming so close to her, I wondered? I found myself getting even closer and fondling both her ears. They were very soft and smooth. She never behaved like other females. She neither barked nor bit me; she merely shook her tail looking rather apologetic for not behaving more warmly towards me that morning.
