Those who are running away from marriage probably consider it too much of botheration to keep up for a lifetime. Getting married is easy but remaining married is difficult is the principle on which marriages break up. Marriage requires one of the partners to submit to the other entirely, without using reason or logic or sense. Today’s conditions give equality to both partners and surrender becomes difficult for either. Marriage is therefore a difficult arrangement in the short term but a preferable one in the long run. It should be upheld at any cost.

Those that have found it impossible to keep the cart of marriage rolling will need to break up. Conflict and breakup are quite natural and living under contractual conditions is unnatural. To remain married is to live in spite of conflict. Those who cannot bear the conflict separate; it is perhaps the easier thing to do than to try and pull through unwillingly. The more difficult thing to do is to pull through the difficult situation with a smile giving the impression that all is well and there is no love lost. Most of what we do in life is some kind of role-playing or other; so let marriage be.
