The Creator is always greater than the created and manages the created world with the strategy of allowing merely a foggy awareness of things.
Life has the potential to surprise, to amaze beyond measure. It never allows you to sail easily for long or in continuation. There are clear bends and breaks in its smooth flow. Nothing you’re sure about will humour you to keep believing in it for long. The possibilities of change are immense and life keeps changing the stilts you stand tall upon.
The problem begins when we try to force our own peculiar ways of perceiving things in understanding others. Who can understand anyone or any design of life? Nature’s versatility in creating variety is far too great to fit into the workings of limited minds. But our minds never give up trying to catch the last drop of foggy perception or awareness of things around us. When someone of one race interacts with one of another, he often does so with the presumption of knowing more about things relating to the other than he actually does. This happens when people interact with others of their own race as well. He forgets that the universe has been constructed on the principle of ambiguity and mystery. The creation of this world may be superficially anatomized by science or philosophy but there will ultimately remain things not understood. If we discover the cause of an earthquake and identify zones where it is more likely to occur, we will suddenly be riddled with a Tsunami. Once that is apparently discovered (as some believe that it actually is) a newer form of shaking us up will arrive. This universe is built on a system that must at least partially puzzle so that the Creator always remains greater than the created. No one will ever be able to see what the next move in someone’s mind will be, or just might be, as that too is a part of the general design of the mystery of Creation.
Quite philosophical, I must say. What comes to mind is travel. Whenever I traveled or came to live in a new place, my perception of that place prior to traveling there was changed greatly when I got there. Our perception of far-off places and people in the past was from reading newspapers and books. Those perceptions are generally quite parochial and biased, often only a romantic version of the reality of the place. For example, I imagined West Virginia to be a place of redneck hillbillies until I actually lived there and got to know what West Virginia was really like.
There are exceptions, when I was in graduate school my roommate from Bombay seemed so well-adjusted to American ways after only being in the country a year. I asked him how he had learned so much about the United States. Behram surprised me when he told me that he had learned about America by watching movies! I'm not sure I would learn much about Indian culture by watching Bollywood movies… then again…
