Companies that place products in box office movies tend to have a ten percent increase in stock price starting ten days before the movie's release lasting for three weeks after the movie's release.
Plot integration, products that are integrated within the plot of a movie are remembered. Product placements connected to the story are instantly recognized, the moviegoer able to recall the brand.
Producers seek out companies for product placement. Some placements provide productions with below-the-line savings such as props, clothing, and cars loaned for the production's use..
And I'm still reeling from when Clark Gable took off his shirt and didn't have an undershirt! I guess undershirt sales and stocks plummeted for sure!
I tend to notice the cars in some movies and know that a certain manufacturer was supplying them. As for liquor and cigarettes, clothing and the like. Those little props don't affect my buying one way or the other.
I'm sure without the endorsements, some movies wouldn't be able to garner enough investment to finish production.
