The key to preventing post-nasal drip is to not engage in risky behaviors such as intranasal drug use, while making sure to eat a healthy diet and/or supplement with the following vitamins, minerals and nutrients: zinc, vitamin D3, probiotics and vitamin C.

How to Prevent Post-Nasal Drip

Post-Nasal Drip is a condition characterized by excess mucus accumulating in the nasal passages and sinuses, and "dripping" slowly down the back of the throat. While a terribly annoying condition, the good news is it's easily preventable.

To take proactive measures to prvent this extremely uncomfortable and annoying nasal illness, simply adhere to the following step-by-step guidelines and you shouldn't have any problems with this nasal nuisance.

  1. Remember to always wash hands regularly, especially after touching or handling objects that are prone to harbor bacteria.
  2. Eat a generally healthy diet, get plenty of sleep and when possible exercise.
  3. When weather and time permit, sunbathe regularly. When you cannot lay out in the natural sunlight, be sure to take high-quality vitamin D3 supplements as directed by your doctor or nutritionist.
  4. Supplement with a high-quality zinc supplement at a dosage consistent with your doctor or nutritionist's recommendations.
  5. Eat yogurt at least 4-5 times per week and/or take a high-quality probiotics supplement daily.
  6. Either consume plenty of vitamin C in your diet or supplement with about 500 mg of vitamin C (ascorbic acid, calcium ascorbate) daily.
  7. Avoid engaging in risky behaviors such as intranasal drug use.

Talk to your doctor or nutritionist before starting a supplement regiment. It is wise to request an inexpensive vitamin D test from your doctor so as to determine your specific need and hence your dose.
