The seven-kilometer walk took them to astonishing highlands, the outside of the pressed earth surface by the doughnut ring. Hisaharu was on the eight-hundred-meter high tableland that was covered by a grassy plain more of more than two thousand square kilometers around the Aso volcano.
Water had eroded the god’s table and had made hundreds of small valleys. They walked three kilometers and suddenly found its edge. The scenery was incredible. The Aso crater rose above them level ground under their feet.
