In the second book of the Chronos files, is an amazing book. Rysa Walker is a fantastic author.

(C)2/22/2017

In the second book of the Chronos files by Rysa Walker, Kate must untangle the knot of circumstances that threatened to erase her boyfriend, dad, and even her own chance at a normal life. Walker continues the story of time travel and adventure with history that includes Harry Houdini, women's politics, and even the Kennedy assasination. Readers are promised more exciting adventure in this sequel to Timebound.

Of course I devoured this book. Walker is a master storyteller. Her ability to develop a compelling story based on a traditional theme is magnified by modern issues, current trends and characters that appeal to audiences in the 2010s. Though the conflicts presented by time travel and right versus wrong are used here, Walker connects them to modern readers with unique twists. It's not enough that Kate is confused about her feelings for Kiernan, but when Kiernan's relationship with her in the past is discovered, the reader is confused right along with her.

The characters are fabulously developed. I like how Kate is described as looking like a girl from a popular Disney show. I imagine her similar to Selena Gomez. On top of that, Kate's convictions and growing independence are admirable. When Kate doubts others feelings about her, isn't sure about her decisions, or is surprised by her own courageous actions, readers will identify easily with her.

Though Connor first comes off as an anoying interloper and foil for Kate's developing identify, he grows on the reader slowly. Walker develops him just as complex and endearing as Kate, and she does so gradually and subtly. Connor lends an anchor to the current timeline and allows Kate to realize the importance of preserving markers that hold this timeline steady.

Daphne, Katherine, Trey, and Kate's Best Friend and Dad are all equally developed reinforcing the readers connection to the story.

Though time travel is just out of reach for readers, the facts that Rysa uses to describe historical events and the connections to modern social trends and techonolgy such as smart phones and tablet computers convince us all that the story is possible.

I can't wait to read the third story. SPOILER: This one leaves the reader hanging on at a critical point.

I have mixed feelings. I love historical fiction, but since the original, Time Machine, I find the devices used in the stories to be more comic book than science. I started watching the hit TV series, Timeless, and then quit because it was beginning to be so preposterous. I did stay with 12 Monkeys, although it was hard to follow with all the wild flashbacks.

From what I read from you, Walker is very good at developing characters. I would agree that the characters can carry even a flimsy plot line like time travel (very unlikely for a very long time into the future).
