Let The Earth Bring Forth….
The debate continues between Fundamentalist Christians and Darwinian historians about Evolution. To some, the very mention of evolution brings up thoughts of “blasphemy”, and anti-God theories. I have always thought that God created all that we see, including the animals and especially Man. Why then is the theory of Evolution so despised by some?
We have to first understand what “Evolution” means. It does not mean that life happened by accident and that all life that we see around us is a random, haphazard event. Charles Darwin wrote a book entitled “On The Origin Of Species”, in which he theorized that all life is subject to change according to the conditions around it, and that those changes allow the survival of those members that are best suited to survive. The survivors then pass on the changes to another future generation and it continues.
According to the latest science, those changes in an animal or plant’s DNA are caused by radiation and sub-atomic particles that hit the DNA and execute changes in its structure. These changes are random and most don’t make the species better and they die out sooner, but the changes that are helpful are passed on because they enable the species to better survive changes in the environment.
Some say that this is anti-God.
If God is the creator of ALL nature and natural forces, would He not be the author of Evolution, if it is true ?
God is powerful enough to create life in any manner He chooses, but does the Bible support Evolution?
I was surprised to hear a TV evangelist say recently that God didn’t create all plant and animal life on earth by speaking it into existence. He allowed the earth to do some of the creating.
Genesis 1:11 says, “And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.”
And in Genesis 1:20, “And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven." But after this in verse 1:21 it does say “God created the great Whales…”
Does this mean that natural forces dictated the creation of grasses and many of the animals? If so, does that mean that Evolution was one tool that God used to create the different species? When it says that He created the Whales, perhaps God intervened from time to time to dictate the creation of “certain species”. We know that God himself created Adam from the dust of the ground and not from an existing creature. That rules out man coming from a pre-existing form of life, like Apes.
We know that species can be changed by “selective breeding”. 10,000 years ago, all dogs in general had the appearance of wild wolves, but through man’s intervention in the process, the many breeds of dogs and horses we enjoy today came into being. These changes took place in a relatively short space of time, compared to the thousands of years normally required to accomplish great changes.
If selective breeding can accomplish such changes in animals, couldn’t nature do the same, but over longer periods of time? When the book of Genesis says, “Let the earth bring forth….” Isn’t it saying, “Let natural forces create the different kinds of plants and animals we have”?
That doesn’t rule out God as the creator because He began the process and let it continue. He even intervened from time to time to guarantee that certain species were present, probably for man’s benefit.
However it happened, its clear from the Bible that God’s hand was on the process.
Evolution has a multitude of flaws that cannot be overcome by science, reason, or archaeology. In fact, archaeology disputes evolution since all manner of species appear suddenly in the fossil record and not through transitional variations. For me, the final nail in the coffin of evolution is that it requires a suspension of natural law, specifically, the Second Law of Thermodynamics, which, as you know, states that nature tends toward disorder.
Nature did not have billions of years with which to "create" man, and nature creates nothing. To date, all of the so-called transitional species offered up in support of evolution have been fraudulent. Can you say, "Piltdown Man?" Also, statistically, anything with a likelihood greater than one in 10,000 didn't happen, couldn't happen. The odds of evolution resulting in even a single living cell are greater than one in one centillion. While the debate may continue, those who choose to believe evolution will continue to do so regardless of the mountains of evidence to the contrary. And those of us who believe the One Living God, will not be moved by fake science to believe the big lie.
Every genuine Christian must reject the idea that God used "science" in the creation process. That idea is akin to the clock maker theology, that suggests that God started the process and then, abandoned the earth. It would be great to read some actual scientific facts about this topic, because all of the real science is on the side of the biblical account.
