‘Murder My Darling,’ Book 17, and the third Carson Reno novel I’ve read—delivers the goods! In this case author Marlow Darling’s tell-all diary. Important enough to get her murdered, and detective Carson Reno implicated in hers and that of the boat captain of ‘The Lusty Lady’.

A fan of Reno and the early Sixties from which he operates the Drake Detective Agency on the first floor of the Peabody Hotel, I loved tooling around with him, Joe, and Lydia. Whether they’re contemplating their next moves at the Down Under, or following up a lead at Chief’s Motel, it’s a wild-goose chase to find the bad guys amongst a motley assortment of characters with creative names such as Lefty Thenwright, Ben Dover, Three Smith, and Primo Pitt.

Even though Carson Reno has only 48 hours to clear his name of murder, he’s the same ‘ol: cynical, snarky, irreverent, and chauvinistic. Leave it to him to stare at Flo’s assets while on duty at Chief’s, wearing her traditional, pink uniform with fake handkerchiefs on the upper left shoulder.
