Even though his singing was not appreciated, Elvis enjoyed Las Vegas. In the future, to unwind from making a movie, three times a year, Elvis would spend a week there.
One teenage girl, who came to his show with her parents, saw Elvis in the New Frontier lobby. “He was so nice. We took photos in the 25-cent booth and made a talking recording in another booth.”
One Saturday afternoon show was for teenagers only, where Elvis got the screaming he was used to. Soon, the fans attacked him and he had to run off stage.
Col. Tom asked Shecky Greene to tour with Elvis and open his show. “I found the offer faintly absurd,” Greene said.
When Greene ran into Bing Crosby, he told him. “Elvis is a wonderful kid, but what’s the fuss about?”
“Shecky,” Crosby said, “he’s going to be the biggest thing in show business.”

That was one of the most annoying narrative voices I have ever heard. But I'm glad the guy told the story. It was really too bad that Elvis had to have those guys around just to protect him from teenage girls. I understand that he dipped into that supply whenever he wanted. He prayed afterward? Told his mama?
