I am now in my 80s, surprised at the face that greets me in the mirror each morning. Part of me remains young, always reaching for the child that is still inside me. That child and I still speak every day, but never really touch. Too many years have passed. Too many horrors. I want to forget, but I shall not. I remember everything that happened over my life time --  my teachers, my friends and family. I especially remember those that did not survive. I remember the past now more clearly than the present because that’s where I tend to live. More than ever, that’s where I meet with my childhood, often during the quiet of the night. I reminisce, thinking until the early morning hours.  My book "Lamb of Legacy: A Child's Survival in Hitler's Berlin" is the story of my childhood in Silesia, and adolescent years in Berlin, Germany from 1930-1952, where I was raised in the shadow of Hitler’s Third Reich and the madness of World War II.  I survived while many didn't, and I am determined to finally share my story. Today, I rush to write before everything is forgotten -- before the past is buried and no one remembers the ugliness of a world at war and what it means to be a German girl raised under Hitler's Swastika.
