My most recent novel is Chimney Bluffs, a story of tragic loss and healing.



I have served a rural Presbyterian church, directed a small community mental health clinic, been an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Family Medicine, directed a Family Therapy Training Program, and run a free family counseling center in a public school system. Although I have retired from all of these formal roles, I have continued my love of writing. I started writing fiction in 2002. Before that I had written over sixty academic papers and co-authored two professional books. Since 2002, I have published four novels: Darkness is as Light (2005), Pumpkin Hill (2007), Charlie No Face (2011--Finalist in General Fiction for the National Indie Excellence Awards), and most recently, Chimney Bluffs (2012). I also blog for Psychology Today magazine (Going Out Not Knowing). I am married and we have two adults daughters and two wonderful granddaughters.
