Currently an Officer in the U.S. Army, I've been writing since my sophomore year in college. My first major recognition was winning second place in my college's creative writing contest for a short story. I was also selected to write two articles for the Army's Quartermaster Bulletin and the COSCOM (Army Corps Support Command) Sustainer. I have been actively writing poetry for a few years now that deals with current events, religion, love, and fantasy. It has been noted by other authors that my writing draws the reader's attention from start to finish. My writings are noted as thought provoking and romantic. I have recently been influenced by family and friends to publish a book of all my poetry. My inspiration in writing comes from relating current events and circumstances to special times in the past. Therefore, I decided to entitle my future anthology, "Reminisce". A devoted Christian, you will notice that God is frequently mentioned in my works. But, this collection of poems in honor of past experiences, are of interest to people as a whole, will have a positive impact on the lives of all who read them. The love of my life is my wife Michelle Currin-Mills with our daughter Mia Currin. Retta (Reindeer) McKenzie inspired me to write on this site and she's also my favorite poet.

Won second place in South Carolina State University's 1991 Creative Writing Contest, and The Poet Sanctuary's September 11th Poem of the week "United We Stand". I've also been asked to write numerous pieces for weddings and other special events. Last I read the poem "A Dream that Became Reality" at an Army dedication service to the late Rev Martin Luther King Jr.
