S. J. Ferrandi, in addition to being a father, poet and educator, is a full time commercial real estate broker and land developer currently living in the Maryland suburbs. After five years of studying to be a Catholic priest under the Redemptorists Fathers, where he had planned on running an orphanage, he left the seminary and entered Towson State University where he earned his degree in journalism. He spent five years as a magazine reporter before joining his family’s construction company that specialized in restoring houses of worship throughout the mid-Atlantic area. He rose through the ranks from sales into management until he assumed the position of president. In 1997, upon the retirement of his father, it was decided the family construction company was to be sold and S. J. decided to pursue a dream of becoming a residential land developer. He earned a Masters of Science degree in Real Estate Development from Johns Hopkins University, where he is currently a member of their practitioner faculty. He attempts to write several poems each week - normally at five in the morning before rising from bed.
