Born in 1942 and raised in the South East of England I was a mechanical engineer the majority of my life after a short time in the printing industry. Having great admiration and respect for my old English teacher I read a great deal, Thomas Hardy  and Tennyson became my  favorites, and influenced by their work  I wrote many short  stories when I was at school and was encouraged by my mentor to continue my writing when I left school and his charge. However, with pressure of work and raising a family I never found time for writing other than some poetry and was proud to have six of my poems selected for publication in 1977. Encouraged by this achievement and the memory of a profound experience I had as a teenage, I decided to write about the event but only completed the first chapter. Since retiring and spending a great deal of time in Florida I took up my pen again and finished the story 'April in September" I started all those years ago, and to my surprise found it easy to write about the romantic encounter I had. Although I had never considered myself a romantic, reliving the memories and moments of those  years before, I realised at heart I was and have since written my first romantic novel "The Guitar Man" released and available from the publishers, Pneuma Springs Publishing U.K.. The inspirations I get to write are mainly from people and experiences in my life and a part of the world I love and hold very dear, the Isle of Wight, off the south coast of England. My novel "The Guitar Man" is set on the Island as will any future novels, as I see the picturesque scenery as a perfect backdrop for a romantic story.   Maurice C Taylor.
