I have been writing stories and poetry from the age of eight, under the tutelage of my mother, freelance fiction and nonfiction writer JoAnn Unger. I have had poems published in anthologies and local newspapers. I am in the process of submitting some of my short stories for publication. In the meantime, I'm working on a YA fantasy series set in my hometown in the Southern California desert. I have been deeply influence since childhood by such authors as Madeleine L'Engle, Ursula LeGuin, J.R.R. Tolkien, Michael Ende, Anne McCaffery, Robin McKinley and Patricia McKillip. In more recent years I've found inspiration in Philip Pullman, Garth Nix, Meredith Ann Pierce, Jacqueline Carey, Libba Bray and Susanna Clarke. My stories are centered around the ideas of alternate dimensions and realities, and their interaction with ours resulting in wars, magic, and renewal for all worlds.
