After a successful career as a newspaper journalist and freelance writer, I changed career horses following a serious riding accident and went to law school at the age of forty.  I've been a prosecuting attorney now for seventeen years, and absolutely love the work.  Sometimes I even write about it. However, the keyboard drew me back to creative writing only a few years out of law school.  It turns out that while being a lawyer is "what I do," being a writer is "who I am."  Friends encouraged me to start blogging essays while, as I like to say, "life got in the way" of the suspense novel I had started. The essays turned into several books, and now I've changed directions once more, writing and illustrating a series of chapter books for young readers centered on a rescue kitten who finds a home in a small town circus museum. The "Finnigan the Circus Cat" series has be so much fun to work on...and I've recently concluded that the wiseacre mouse who narrates the stories is really just the ten-year-old version of myself, before I had to grow up and get "responsible." My first two books, "Running with Stilettos" and "Heck on Heels" chalked up a Silver IPPY Award, a Mom's Choice Awards, finalist status in the Royal Palm Literary Awards and Book of the Year Award contests, and first and second place finishes in the National Federation of Press Women's annual communications contests.
