I have an early memory of  trying to find pictures in my mother's books when I was 3 years old. It wasn't long before I didn't need the pictures, although I loved the ones I found. My newspaper editor grandmother, Clara Payton, sent me books for birthdays and Christmases - some I still have - Rudyard Kipling, Fairy Tales, all the children's classics available at that time. I've always written: in high school and college, I edited the year books and wrote for the school newspapers - I majored in English, then eventually got two teaching credentials, one in reading. I've been writing short stories and plays for years while raising childen, homemaking, and exploring life. When I joined the Redwood Writers Club in Sonoma County, California, I finally began to see myself as a working writer. Since then I have had a story published in Vintage Voices - Cent' Anni: May you live 100 years and have completed my first novel, Relative Vision. That work, in the Young Adult Thriller genre, draws on my experiences as the daughter of a career military officer in Napa County, California.
