Shadowy trees appeared through the rain, sodden gray sentinels lining the road on either side. The branches looked like arms raised in damp warning. Kiki saw the watery shape of buildings, just visible in the distance.
"Is that it?"
A small white cottage stood huddled with other buildings. With its eaves dripping and window shades at half-mast, it could have been crying.
"That's it." Mrs. Moore's shoulders slumped.
