I live in the countryside where it is peaceful and manage my own farm; the animals are like family to me. My husband and I have ducks, chickens, geese, cats, dogs, horses and cattle. I enjoy horse riding, hill rambling, reading and going to the movies. The first few stories I ever wrote for children were about my animals. I love nature and a lot of my inspiration for writing comes from that. As a child I was a complete book worm and a powerful imagination. As kids, my brothers and sisters would make up adventures and pretend we were in enchanting kingdoms with witches and dragons. It was exciting and great fun. My first children's book 'The Hippity Dippity Witch' is actually derived from my own childhood. Imagination is a wonderful thing that has no boundaries. I've always loved watching movies for kids, in particular those by Walt Disney. There's something magical about them that I can't quite put my finger on. To conclude, I feel that writing has to come from the heart otherwise it's not worth putting down on paper.

Graduated from The University of Limerick with a degree in languages, history and sociology. Also obtained a diploma in freelance journalism.
