I wrote A Cappella because the minds and hearts of teenagers fascinate me. Those of us whose young adult years are behind us may still remember, in fleeting glimpses, the exhiliration and trauma of being seventeen, the love that feels so much more than love, emotions and anxieties that threaten to steal our very breath. I believe that communication between parents and their teenaged children is imperative if we want to raise healthy and competent adults. I worry about the oversexualization of today's teens, and a lack of discussion concerning intimacy in all of its multi-faceted nature. My goal is that A Cappella will provide not only an enjoyable journey back to the whirlwind world of high school's hallways, but also a vehicle to spark positive discussions between moms, dads and their beloved teens.
