I have spent the last five years being commissioned to research Family Trees. Many, many remarkable (true) tales of tragedy, heroism, success and such like were uncovered. Out of nearly 3000 research projects, one stood out above all the rest, and the story just had to be told. Rather than publish the facts as a run-of-the-mill family history saga, I decided to try and recreate the suspense of the research process by writing the story as a mystery/thriller novel. The resultant book "Where's Merrill?" is therefore almost totally based upon true events. To satisfy privacy concerns, the names of the main family characters have been changed. Fact can be stranger than fiction. What secrets lurk in your ancestral closet?
