I worked in social service and disability for almost three decades, in which I was able to write in a variety of genres, including business, technical and legal. I devoted private time to poetry, spirituality, philosophical, and fictional writing. I don't have a set genre in which I like to write--I write as the spirit moves. I have written books about spirituality, creativity, humour, fiction, and social commentary. I also don't have a set 'influence'--what I write and how I write depend on the type of writing I am doing.  For my articles I write about what I observe, and the thoughts and feelings those observations inspire.  When I write essays, I am captivated by a question, and the journey of coming to an answer in a logical and orderly manner.  When i write fiction, the reader is as much a part of my story as the characters.  I want to entertain, and if possible, illuminate the reader. There is a great deal to learn from many sources.  Limiting yourself to AN inspiration ultimately limits you and your work.  One of my sources is the 'real world', and I comment on trends and attitudes I observe, particularly around mental illness, interpersonal relationships, and community.  Things often are a lot simpler than they seem, but the simplicity is lost in the cloud of 'activity' that surrounds and masks it.
